Number to Words Converter — Vietnamese & English, Up to Trillions
Convert numbers to Vietnamese (mốt, tư, lăm, lẻ) or English words. Up to 999 trillion, optional "đồng" / "VND" suffix for contracts, Capitalize or ALL CAPS. Runs in your browser.
Convert numbers to words — especially useful for Vietnamese invoices, contracts, bank cheques. Supports up to 999 trillion. Bonus: English output.
When you need to spell numbers
- Vietnamese contracts: per Circular 200/2014/TT-BTC, monetary amounts must be in both digits and words.
- VAT invoices: the "Bằng chữ" field on red invoices — accounting software auto-fills, but you need it right when filling by hand.
- Cheques and payment orders: banks require words to prevent digit tampering.
- Quotations: contract front page — "Total: X VND (Y in words)".
- Legal documents: decisions, notices with figures.
Vietnamese number reading rules
- "Mốt" (1): after "mươi" — hai mươi mốt (21), NOT "hai mươi một".
- "Tư" (4): regional. Northern style uses hai mươi tư; Southern still says "bốn". The tool uses "tư" — the formal written norm.
- "Lăm" (5): after "mươi" — hai mươi lăm (25), NOT "hai mươi năm".
- "Lẻ": inserted when tens = 0 but units ≠ 0 — một trăm lẻ ba (103).
- "Mười": 10-19 say "mười"; 20+ becomes "mươi" (hai mươi, ba mươi).
- Currency suffix: per Vietnamese contract norms, the suffix is "đồng" or "VND". Toggle in the tool.

FAQ
Is this number-to-words converter accurate for Vietnamese contracts?
Yes. The tool follows formal Vietnamese number-reading rules: "mốt" after tens (hai mươi mốt = 21), "lăm" instead of "năm" (hai mươi lăm = 25), "tư" instead of "bốn" (hai mươi tư = 24), and "lẻ" inserted when tens digit is 0 (một trăm lẻ ba = 103). Compatible with Circular 200/2014/TT-BTC for invoices and contracts.
What is the maximum number it supports?
Up to 999 trillion (15 digits). That covers virtually all contracts, invoices, cheques, and large transactions in Vietnam.
When should I use "đồng" versus "VND"?
"Đồng" is the legal Vietnamese standard for domestic contracts, invoices, and cheques. "VND" suits export invoices and bilingual contracts with foreign partners. The tool toggles between both.
Does the tool work offline?
Yes. All conversion runs in your browser via plain JavaScript — numbers are NEVER uploaded to a server. Safe for sensitive content like internal contracts.
Why does the tool say "hai mươi tư" instead of "hai mươi bốn"?
Both are spoken (Northern Vietnam tends to use "tư"; Southern Vietnam keeps "bốn"). However, in formal contracts and accounting, "hai mươi tư" is the prevailing written form. The tool follows the written-document standard.
